Flight Facilities - Crave You (Adventure Club RMX)

What a weDUBNESSday tune! It's been on repeat all week. For a change, I've included lyrics. (Something I'm going to do, where possible, for all the tracks on the blog)

Flight Facilities is a bit of a one-hit-wonder mystery Australian DJ duo with their track, "Crave You" featuring vocals from Giselle Rosselli.

Adventure Club, another duo DJ mix (Christian Srigley and Leighton James), took the track and did their dub Montreal Magic...creating this legendary piece!

Flight Facilities - Crave You (Lyrics)
"Why can’t you want me like the other boys do?
They stare at me while I stare at you
Why can’t I keep you safe as my own?
One moment I have you the next you’re gone
Rehearsed steps on an empty stage
That boy’s got my heart in a silver cage
Why can’t you want me like the other boys do?
They stare at me while I crave you
I walked into the room dripping in gold
Yeh dripping in gold
I walked into the room dripping in gold
Dripping in gold
A wave of heads did turn or so I’ve been told
Or so I’ve been told
My heart broke when I saw you kept your gaze controlled
I cannot solve
Why can’t you want me like the other boys do?
They stare at me while I stare at you
Why can’t I keep you safe as my own?
One moment I have you the next you’re gone
Rehearsed steps on an empty stage
That boy’s got my heart in a silver cage
Why can’t you want me like the other boys do?
They stare at me while I crave you
It’s true I crave you
Crave You
It’s true I crave you
Let’s just stop and think, before I lose face
Surely I can’t fall, into a game of chase
Around his little finger, that boy has got me curled
I try to reach out, but he’s in his own world
This boy’s got my head tied, in knots with all his games
I simply want him more because he looks the other way
Why can’t you want me like the other boys do?
They stare at me while I stare at you
Why can’t I keep you safe as my own?
One moment I have you the next you’re gone
Rehearsed steps on an empty stage
That boy’s got my heart in a silver cage
Why can’t you want me like the other boys do?
They stare at me while I crave you
I am craving you"

It's gonna get LOUDER! - DJ Fresh (UPDATED)

The first time I heard this was in a YouTube dub dance video. So only fair to share it with you in the same format. Check it out first, then then continue below for the full track and write-up. (do not adjust your volume. Headphones & Bass highly recommended!)

DJ Fresh rolls out a kicking 2011 summer(Northern Hemisphere) club tune, only for it to then be dubbed one step higher by The Doc and Flux. Insane!!

The vocals are from Sian Evans, the lead singer of Kosheen. A DnB group I've really enjoyed for many years and lucky enough to have seen live at a few intimate gigs in the UK.

Without much further ado, time to roll the full track... Sit back (ha, yeah right) and enjoy!

***** UPDATE*****
I've noticed the soundcloud tune has been removed, hence the link not working anymore. Hmmm, irritatingly menacingly, downright just quite LAME!

Here's the YouTube link instead! (CLICK ME for the 320 download...)

BELATED May 4th - Robotic Pirate Monkey

(Belated Post - Due to Blogger not allowing new posts for a few days!!!! Grrrrrr)

May the FOURTH be with you on this weDUBNESSday! A day in each week to celebrate all things dub, and the past influences and the spin-offs still yet to come. Some tunes will be complete mix-n-mash ups, and some a lot more straight forward. I’ll post up what I like, and take it from there. Just cuz it’s popular, doesn’t mean I like it, and just cuz I like it, doesn’t mean it will be popular… ;-)

Today, I’m in a cheeeeeeeeelled mood. So, time for some cheeeeelled choooons…

For those of you who are not fans of DUB, I strongly suggest you check this song out. You neeeeeever know.... ;-)

Robotic Pirate Monkeys (RPM) - http://roboticpiratemonkey.com
This Colorado trio have been around for a relatively very short time, but have managed to make some big waves in the scene.

The tune I picked for today is their latest track, SING WITH ME. Sampling the Aerosmith tune “Dream On” from 1976!! (This will be a killer Parkour training video backtrack, imho!)

May 4th 2011 is a good time to be highlighting these guys as they launch their new EP tonight in Colorado. G’luck Gents. Let it be a ripper!!!!

Check ‘em out on Facebook, Like, Comment, Support! (and if you search their website, you’ll even find an album or two to download. Some GREAT tunes to find!!!

BONUS TRACK
And JUUUUUUST because Blogger made this post late, I thought it only fair to throw in a bonus track. This is Drum 'n Bass producer and musician from the South West of England, Danny Byrd.

"From Bath With Love" has a chilled start and ending, with typical DnB sandwiched in-between. Enjoy!

An Introduction to: weDUBNESSday! (Dubstep Music)

"it's no secret i love DUB! Therefore to all fans of music i declare 2011 from this day forth to be referred to as 'Twenty Dub One'! :-D"
(My facebook status update: 20th January '11)

"As a campaign to highlight the silent and often sadly overlooked D in the word WeDnesday I propose we alter it slightly. From now on, Wednesday shall be known as WeDUBNESSday!"
(My facebook status update: 16th March '11)

Quite clearly then, I like the Dubstep music genre (Or better referred to as simply, Dub). Especially the "dirty/harder" versions we see cropping up and evolving (big bass drops and wobbles, etc). Although I also enjoy remixes which have subtle dub nuances planted inside. It must come from my long love of Garage, Speed Garage, Acid Jazz, Tech Step, Jungle, Breakbeats, Electronic, Drum n Bass, and and and...

I remember radio mixes I used to tape one or two moons ago from the 5Fm's Reebok Classic show era on a Friday night with Derek "The Bandit" Richardson. It was during a midnight feature he had on called "the other side of dance" (I think it was), and often the mixes on there were done by some very popular DJ's at the time (such as Todd Terry), but using very experimental tunes and weird samples. Ones they could never get away with playing them in a club or on a big set. I loved these!! They never really fitted into one genre.

And look at us now! Fast forward a few years and the stuff is literally mainstream and all over the latest daytime radio playlists. As great as that sounds, perhaps it should remain in the clutches of only the select few who can work it well. (I very recently heard a, bad, Britney Spears song trying to use a small dub insert. Who knows why. It's definitively not for everyone...)

And with that brief history done..... I'll be keeping the DUB video posts on my blog here from now on (as opposed to Facebook) in order to be able to track them later on down the line. (and revive my blog page again, which I've been neglecting!)

Here are a few of my weDUBNESSday YouTube tunes that I've already posted up on Facebook the last few weeks. Fittingly, I'll start with Skrillex in this post. Loving his work at the moment. Most of these are remixes. If you want to check out his original works, then search for his second album "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites". (His debut album being, "My Name Is Skrillex")
